My Projects
Hamburger Helper 2
As the sequel for a previous text-based game, Hamburger Helper 2 is a game developed in JavaFX with my friend, David Rogers. As the first major project I have done in my software engineering career, we used GitHub to collaborate and create a top-down shooter game with different enemies, power-ups, and weapons, as well as a health system, randomly generated maps, and a leaderboard system. Additionally, we utilized object-oriented programming techniques and design patterns to make sure our code was easy to navigate and develop.
NutriLog
NutriLog is a health-tracking web application that lets users capture meal photos and receive a precise analysis of the ingredients, accompanied by totals for calories, carbohydrates, fats, and protein. Powered by AWS Rekognition to identify ingredients in each meal, NutriLog turns those detections into an actionable nutrition summary for every entry.
Guiding Cane
With a team of six, we developed and invented a collapsible guiding cane for the visually impaired, capable of obeying social-distancing standards. As one of the features of the cane, one of my tasks included developing the Navigation System of the cane, which would allow the user of the cane to speak with the guide. This involved communicating through an Arduino controller and vibration motor pulses so the guide could signal turns and stops, enabling reliable communication across environments where a guiding cane is needed.
Upcoming Projects
A recent addition to game development tools, Unreal Engine 5 is an advanced real-time 3D creation tool for photoreal visuals and immersive experiences. As this is a side project, I aim to create a first-person shooter game with this tool within the span of my university program.
Automation is a recurring practice: refining smart-home routines, orchestrating booking workflows for recreation centres, and instrumenting fitness and wellness dashboards. These prototypes keep my tooling sharp while removing repetitive friction from daily planning.
